maggie hillier, excavations administrator
Another of our ‘Staff Insights’ blogs – we asked Maggie about her role and what it means to her.
Q: Where are you based?
I’m home based.
Q: How long have you been with the company?
Since June 2020, but I’ve worked for the company since 2007 – just not continuously. Personal circumstances have taken me away for a few short periods, but I keep coming back because I love the job and the people that I work with.
Q: How would you describe your role/function within the business?
Within the Excavations team, I provide administrative support to Andy Hillier, the Contracts Manager, and Dave Moody, the Contracts Supervisor. I also provide phone backup to the Contracts team. It’s my task to keep our systems updated, prepare documentation for clients, field phone calls & emails, assist with planning projects, and helping to keep everything moving smoothly to keep our clients happy.
Q: Who would play your role if it was to be made into a blockbuster film?
Dawn French or Miranda Hart.
Q: What are your ‘super-powers’?
I’m a good team player, I like to help other people if I can, and I’m a good listener.
Q: Are you a Tea or coffee person?
Definitely coffee – I couldn’t do my job without it!
Q: If you had to choose one thing from the list below that is most important to your role, which of these would you choose?
G. TEAMWORK!
A. Delivering great customer service
B. Dodging the rain
C. Bio-security measures
D. Making someone smile
E. Ending the day with a smile
F. A tidy van
G. Teamwork!
Q: Do you have any interesting facts about your job or odd/humorous things that have happened whilst working that you’d like to share?
It’s difficult to pick one thing – you really do learn something new every day. I’ve just discovered pink knotweed, for instance. As for odd or humorous things happening, they really are too numerous to mention. That’s one of the reasons why I like the job so much. Every day is different, and you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get next, but it’s never dull!
“Thanks Maggie for giving us an insight into your role as a Excavations Administrator”
