Rachel, Sharon and Becky take on the Test Way
On Sunday 28 September, our colleagues Rachel, Sharon and Becky laced up their boots for an 11 mile walk along the Test Way to raise funds for Maggie’s Southampton. The event was supported by the Rotary Club of Romsey and all donations go toward free practical and emotional support for people with cancer and their families.
A lucky start and a flying pace
The weather was kind to the team. The coach dropped everyone at Stockbridge just as the rain stopped, and by a stroke of luck our trio had front row seats which placed them at the head of the 11 mile group. With Becky and Sharon setting a quick tempo, they aimed to finish in under four hours and smashed it in under 3.5 hours.

Blisters, laughs and a strong finish
There were a few sore muscles and some heroic blisters, but the smiles at the finish said it all. As Becky put it, “We had a great time, just a little sore today.” The team loved the route and the challenge, and they are already planning to sign up again next year.

Spotting invasives along the way
True to form, our team could not resist a little fieldwork. They kept an eye out for invasive plants along the route and even spotted bamboo in the wild. If you join us next year, consider this your invitation to help with invasive spotting along the trail.
