Invasive Plants in the UK

NOT JUST KNOTWEED!

Japanese knotweed is just one of over 200 plant species causing widespread infestation (and running riot) across the UK. Most of these plants we can control or remove via our sister brand Environment Controls.

One of the most prevalent at the moment is Himalayan balsam – is it the new knotweed? Time will tell, but what we do know is we’ve seeing more infestations – we think due the increased rainfall. This plants likes to get it’s feet wet! It’s a highly invasive plant that (like knotweed) will engulf native species and take over large swathes of land. It does this very effectively by having exploding seed heads that, when ripe, fling up to 2,500 seeds as far as 7 meters away.

Head over to Environment Controls for more information on Himalayan balsam.
